To Catch A Mouse; El Lenador De Restaurant; Puppy
Hola!
Winky loves the backyard and races around like the devil is after him. Since the back wall was rebuilt there is plenty of dirt for him to race through. I wish I had brought him boots. So, before he can come into the house he has to go into what I call the anti room (from my nursing days) or what you might call a mud room. He has to have his dirty little paws washed. Lucy and QE do not get their paws dirty. So , I guess it is a boy thing.
Winky has also found a replacement for Oaklake Squirrels which is a “rat” that lives in our wood pile on the far side of the house. Luckly Winky cannot reach the wood pile due to a fence. But he still investigates and patrols the area. I was actually glad to find out the “rat ” had moved to the wood pile. One morning I was sitting on the front porch enjoying my morning cofee and the beautiful view. This little guy nearly ran up on the porch by my feet. I immediately went inside and got the fireplace tool. When I went back outside I could see him moving in the bushes but just could not bring myself to hit him. So, I got Bill out of bed and gave him the fireplace tool and told to go kill the “rat”. Bill went outside with the tool and said “you have got to be kidding I need my pellet gun not this fireplace tool” . So sad no pellet guns or any guns in Ecuador.
Later in the day Bill said “you do not want to see what Winky has done”. So I thought he might have gotten into the trash or made a mess. He had caught a little “mouse” in the house and had it in his mouth playing. I guess in his mind if you cannot catch the “rat ” then go for a smaller version like a “mouse”. So my one eyed King Charles Cavalier is a mouser. Needless, to say no puppy kisses that night from Winky Boy.
The attached pic below is me on my way to the restaurant. We went out the back gate and through the farmers pasture on the way to town. Marie and her husband allow us to take the short cut to town through their pasture. Yes, those are cows. Sometimes in the morning I hear them “mooing “along with the frogs “singing” their little song.
Later that afternoon we went to El Lenador De for broiled sea bass. We had gone in June and I just loved the food. You are first served a small basket of popcorn, corn nuts and chifles (fried plantain chips). You dip these in a hot sauce that is kinda of slimy but really good.
Bill and I shared a bowl of potatoe soup that had avacado floating on top. Everything is served with avacado.
I had four large pieces of sea bass that were broiled and were crispy which came with mixed vegetable, french fries (papas) and avocado slices. Bill decided he would opt to have his sea bass served with mushrooms. It turned out to be more of a sauce smothered in mushrooms. We each had a liter of Club Beer with Lemon.
Later in the day some neighbors came over to introduce their new 5 week old black lab puppy to our pups so that they could be friends. It will be a week before they take full ownership of the puppy but they get to bring it home for a visit.
Bob is a retired United Airlines pilot and Diane is a retired home builder. They moved here from Hawaii. They have lived here for over a year and are building a new house 2 doors down from us. This is their 39 home that they have built and it is going to be beautiful. I am so glad that they will be close because they are our favorite neighbors and great wine drinking buddies. Bob has the puppy nestled in his back pack. It will not be long before this pup is bigger than our dogs.
More tomorrow about the photography class and my visit to the flower plantation. I also want to do a special blog on my moving experience which includes the dogs. A friend wants me to record all of this while it is still fresh on my mind. So stayed tuned.
Hugs to family and friends
