Christmas in the Andes
I always try to select music that is inspirational to me. For some reason if you are a registered to my blog you will not hear the music. I hope you will log in directly to the blog and enjoy the music by John Lennon: Happy Xmas. With all the strife going on in the world I thought this song was appropriate. Enjoy!
How on earth do you compare Christmas in Ecuador verses in Texas? Well first of all it is more spiritual and magical. Everyday there is some sort of parade with the children. I really think it is more all about the children. So no stress to buy presents and get caught up in the mass marketing as compared to the United States. Most folks get involved with giving little gifts to the children and adults. This usually involves a trip up into the mountains to pass out cookies & food. They are so appreciative of these simple gifts. Yes, we miss our family but we can always find an adorable child to hug usually dressed as an angel or Santa.
I am thankful to have so many friends here that really are now our extended family. Plus I hear from my darling daughter in Florida very often. It is nice to not be forgotten. The rest of our family are very busy and so caught up with living that we do not hear from them as often as we would like except for Aunt Joyce! We certainly understand since we have been there done that in the rat race of life. We love to see pictures of our grandchildren but that is also a rare event. There are also many parties and our calendar remains full. Our life is so much fuller and blessed than it was in Texas the past few years. I guess because it is a simpler life. Yes, it is true “all you need is Ecuador”.
Since picture are better than my words I think the slide show below sums up our Christmas.
I have learned that you need to be creative and thank heavens for Pinterest! One of our neighbors invited us over to make lavender wreaths. So it took all day but we had great fun and she even served us lunch. Christmas music, good friends and a terrific coco drink spike with run and cinnamon liqueur. The wreath on our gate was made out of one of those foam swimming tubes.
Praying for peace on earth!
Hugs to family & friends.
