Shake, Rattle and Roll
“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride! (Hunter S. Thompson)
When Bill and I decided to take this journey a lot of folks thought we had to have lost our minds. But the quote above pretty well sums it all up. Ecuador is always full of surprises.
On April 1, an 8.2 magnitude Earthquake near Iquique, Chile, and warnings of a Tsunami for Chile, Peru, and Ecuador were issued. We did not feel the quake in Cotacachi.
On April 4, the Tungurahua Volcano which is called the “throat of fire” and is located just south of Quito erupted creating a spectacular plume of ash. But the sky in Cotacachi remained clear. The following pictures were taken off of the internet. So rest easy I was not there!
Each morning we wake up to a beautiful view. The picture below was taken from our back yard.

Who would have thought you could have wonderful Chinese food in Ecuador.
Turns out that in Ibarra there is a Chinese grocery. We must plan a trip!
Neighbors

Boy, do I have a glow! Too much sun or vino?
Billy Boys’ new toy that he had built.
Bill and a neighbor found totes that are used on cargo ships. So they have cleaned them and converted them to be used in our aquaponics system. More to come later on how this works. But fresh fish and organic vegetables coming soon to our backyard.
Our tree is loaded with lemons!
