Return Trip To Texas: Yee Haw
After 6 months it was time to return to Fort Worth and Arlington, Texas for a visit with family, and friends, and to shop until we drop. We needed to get all of those little things that we forgot to pack. For example, smaller clothes since we have lost weight due to all the walking we do in Cotacachi. Plus Bill needed long sleeve shirts to keep the little black bastard bugs off.
Below Texas Annie at the Fort Worth Stock yards. The longhorn is named Patron! My favorite kind of Tequila.
We had a great time in Fort Worth with a tourist mentality! Saw the city in a whole new light!.
Capital Grill
Wonderful fried calamari and I do not even like calamari. Plus a great wine and complimentary pineapple-infused vodka. We later headed over to Bob’s Steakhouse to have dinner at the bar.
Chuy’s: they stopped making our favorite Green Chili Stew!!!!
At least they still have TEXAS Margarita’s
Mama Cuca’s wonderful spicy beer and Mango Margarita are the best ever!
Family
Henry Manor B & B and Transportation Service: 5-Star Rating
Cat City Grill: rough being 5 years old!
Salt Grass Steakhouse is great TEXAS chicken friend steak and Sweet Potatoes loaded with cinnamon.
TEXAS Rudy’s Bar B Que at Aunt Joyce & Don’s
Hoover B &B provided us with the best bed in the world! 5 Star Rating
Three C’s: friends that I worked with during my nursing / human resources days
Computer Wizard & Wife
At the Flying Fish, we had the best-fried oysters & huge Mexican shrimp cocktail.
So how was it being back in TEXAS? Certainly great to see family & friends but by day 2 we were already missing the Andes! Plus it was cold in Fort Worth in the 40″s which we were not prepared for cold weather. We ate at all of our favorite places but somehow it was just not the same. I think our taste may have changed…strange except for a WHATABURGER which is always good. We did gain 5 pounds each. But we will lose it quickly once we start walking and eating healthy again….no fast food!
We found the TEXAS pace fast and yearned for our slower peaceful life. We did shop and our suitcases were loaded. We weighed each carefully and later found we could have taken 3 bags each instead of 2 bags each. We had a good flight home and were so glad to see Raphael at the airport to take us home. The house sitter did a great job and the house was spotless. The dogs were excited to see us and Winky just howled with excitement. On the dining room table were welcome home flowers from Michel & Jorge.
Thank you to all the folks that provided us a bed, took us out to eat, shop, and entertained this Ecuadorian couple. It was wonderful to see neighbors, friends, and family. So regrets to those family and friends whom we never could coordinate busy schedules and we will try again in 2015. Or even better plan a trip to the Henry Hostel we have a bed ready and you can dine at Magical La Mirage!
We have been busy since we have been back and my next blog will be about building a keyhole garden, a trip to pottery, weaving, and brick making. Plus of course more about
Magical La Mirage.
Hugs to all the Texas, California & Florida family and friends!
