FedEx: Voice Mail Without Phone Ringing??????
I am still so frustrated with FedEx which I now refer to as Sneaky Snakes but as they say in Texas “I am like a dog with a bone” and just not letting go. Don’t mess with retired folks that have lots of time on their hands! My mission now is to expose what I have learned in hopes it will help others.
FedEx is extremely difficult to get in touch with but it can be done. I read online that Fredrick W. Smith, CEO would respond to messages on Facebook. First private message no response. The second message included a copy of one of my FedEx blogs along with our telephone number. I also found online Frederick W. Smith’s email address which is FWSmith@fedex.com. I doubted it was real but copied and pasted my FB message along with my latest FedEx blog.
A few days later we received the following voice mail message from the FedEx Executive Office:
Hello, this is Lauresa Brown with FedEx executive services. This message is for Mrs. Ann Henry, I’m calling you back in regards to some correspondence that we received in our office in regards to a missing shipment, sorry for the delay. And for the delay response, My number is 901 369 3600, extension 0, I’m in the office from 8 am until 5 pm, Central Standard Time
Monday through Friday. Right now it’s about seven offices closed. However, I was just trying to respond to you before I left the office. I apologize once again for the delay response and hopefully, we can connect tomorrow. Thank you, Miss Henry. Goodbye
Yippee. We were both so excited with the hope that finally, we could speak with someone from the FedEx Executive Office. How did this happen that we missed this call since we were both home and never heard the phone ring? The next morning at 9 am we called the number. A switchboard operator answers but cannot connect directly to Ms. Brown (I wonder if that is even a real name). Jackie says ” I can only send her a message to call you”. So we’re ok with that and looking forward to the conversation. Later that day another message but our phone did not ring this kept happening over and over from Ms. Brown and our phone never rang. So there had to be something wrong with our phone ringing. We had a friend from California call us to make sure the phone would ring and there was no problem. Ms. Brown continued to leave messages without our phone ringing and it was driving me crazy. The one call we wanted and our phone would not ring.
Now let me regress and give you a little history about us. We are currently in Cotacachi, Ecuador, and have our home telephone number connected to OOMA voice over the internet. Ecuador is so different from the U.S. concerning the fear of the “unwanted Chinese Export”. We are on day 162 of staying at home and limited to a strict country curfew. Getting to the point I am trying to make we were home when the FedEx messages were left by Ms. Brown and the phone never rang just messages. Now, this is what is curious that same day Ms. Brown was leaving messages we were receiving a few brief calls from California. To the point, there was nothing wrong with our telephone ringing from those calls. So it was not that our phone would not ring.
Maybe it was my years in Human Resources conducting investigations but I just could not let this go. So I started to research on the internet how a voice mail could be left without your telephone ringing. Well folks it does exist! There are several services where you can bypass a ringing telephone and leave a voice mail message. The two that I have found are: Slydial https://www.slydial.com/ and Drop Cowboy https://www.dropcowboy.com/
So what this service does is allows someone to make a call and leave a message without your phone ringing. You will just see on your phone that you missed a call. Wow, great customer service you are actually receiving returned calls…..WRONG they are bypassing your phone ringing. Being Texan I love the name “Drop Cowboy”. Especially since I think FedEx drops folks on their head and wallet with unethical business practices. Now you can understand why I refer to FedEx as Sneaky Snakes.
The last message: Hello, Mr. Henry, this Lauresa Brown again with FedEx executive services. Since we can’t, we’ve been unsuccessful in connecting, I’m showing that on this particular tracking number ending in 4154. For the crime was paid on case number 0718429442. The package was not able to be located it looks like it’s been approximately two months. And that’s why they went ahead and settle a claim on it. I’m not sure how I can be of additional assistance to you. I’m sorry that we you know, we’re unable to, we haven’t been able to connect. I know that’s probably because I’m on the line a lot and I can also appreciate that you’re busy as well. So if that information doesn’t answer your question, of course, you could always try and reach back out to me as I stated in the office from 8 am until 5 pm Central Standard Time, and I thought maybe if I waited into the end of the business day, might have a better chance of maybe connecting with you. Again, Mr. Henry, I do apologize for the problem that you experienced with the shipment. Thank you, sir. Goodbye.
We worked on this within 2 days of the box missing and Ms. Brown is correct it is now 2 months. We received 10 voice mail messages from Ms. Brown without our phone ringing. Sometimes we were sitting right next to the phone when a message appeared. The claim was paid for only $100 for a box that had $700 worth of items and we never had the opportunity to protest the claim. I hope someone will learn from our lost box FedEx experience.
So maybe I wearing my “tin hat” after so many days in lockdown but I really think this is a tactic FedEx uses. Your thoughts and experiences would be appreciated since I am thinking of compiling all the information into a free ebook to help folks navigate a very convoluted FedEx system. I would like to hear about your experience with FedEx and may even add them to my ebook.
